To get a short term job in the trades while traveling Eastward through Southern Utah. I am carrying a pretty complete set of electrical tools, as well as the basics in saws, drills, drivers, hammers, etc.

Self-Employed, San Francisco Bay Area
Clients have been a mix of Contractors and Homeowners, and the work has tended to be toward preparing homes for sale. It has ranged from minor plumbing and electrical repairs and installations to framing, patching, and painting, landscaping, minor grading and drainage work, gardening. I also chase hang gliders.

2017 Luke Stickney Electric, San Francisco, CA
*Electrical Apprentice
Commercial Electric Work included extensive ½" conduit bending, 277V Wiring, 400A Switch Gear and Service Upgrades, with 3-Phase for Elevator and with alternated Single Phase for Apartments, Boom and Scissor Lift Work, Maintaining Complex Inventory of Work Done and Pending, and Co-Ordinating schedule with Blue Collar Maintenance Staff. Paperwork doesn't faze me.

2014 Columbia University, New York NY
*Porter/Maintenance Staff
A temporary Union-track job maintaining clean and orderly buildings and turning over residential units on move out, preparing for fall move ins. I did extensive cleaning, minor repairs.

2012 Robert Monk Electric, Philadelphia, PA
*Electrician's Apprentice
I built a small collection of tools and my first good experience with wiring and electricity. I didn't work long enough to master anything; but I got experience with new residential wiring, the repair and modification of existing, and minor commercial work; from three-way switches, lighting, heater and appliance install to 200A single-phase service upgrades.

2003 Lutfy/Brinkmann Residence, Brooklyn, NY
*Brownstone Renovation and Restoration

Hard, rewarding work stripping, sanding, wood finishing, plastering, priming and painting. The building was a beautiful five story brownstone on the edge of Bedford-Stuyvesant that has previously had very little done to it in its life of over a hundred years. It took us many months to transform the house to a mix of the modern and the way it was originally.

1999 Master Builders, Emeryville, CA
*Apprentice Carpenter

This is was one of the best organized small construction firms I have ever worked for. Everything happened by the clock. An employee manual laid out a clear path: acquire and maintain a list of tools, get your foreman to sign off on your experience and you can expect a raise and new responsibilities, all the way from laborer to journeyman, foreman, or partner. We arrived ten minutes before the day started, all broke at the same time and cleaned up at the same time. The exception was for impromptu training, or to learn new knots. The boss had a thing for good knots.

As a youth Phillip Nereo Woodworking, Windsor, CA
*Apprentice Woodworker

Nereo Woodworking primarily did high end stairs and bannisters, doors and entryways, custom cabinetry and built in furniture, usually for private homes and wineries in Northern California. Saws, lathes, planers, glue, chisels, sanders, presses, joiners and a range of hand tools were the tools of the trade, and I worked in the shop helping prepare everything for the installers.
